The case against Ravi Lamichhane in the bench of Judge Prahlad Kumar Yogi

The co-operative fraud and organized crime case against Ravi Lamichhane, chairman of RSVP and former managing director of Gorkha Media Network, has come to the bench of District Judge Prahlad Kumar Yogi. On Sunday, a case was registered against Lamichhane in the court for defrauding the funds of the Butwal-based Supreme Credit and Savings Cooperative and organized crime.

For the defense of the same case, Lamichhane reached the court at 10 o'clock when the court opened on Wednesday morning. As soon as he arrived, the court produced him.  

After the supplementary investigation of the Butwal area police office, the District Public Prosecutor's Office filed a supplementary case against Ravi Lamichhane, Chabilal Joshi, 14 in the supplementary case and 22 people including 8 in the original case, for the crime of cooperative fraud and organized crime, with more than a dozen facts and evidence.

55 crore 59 lakh 83 thousand rupees has been claimed against 22 people. 20 million personal fines have been set against Lamichhane . A separate bill of Rs 100.99 million has been requested for the group.

A case has been registered against 42 people, including 22 of the supplementary prosecution, including Gitendra Babu (GB) Rai in connection with the misappropriation of funds of Supreme Cooperative. Out of 42 people, 33 people including Lamichhane, Chabilal Joshi were on the absconding list. 

District Court Information Officer Anantaraj Marasini said that the case against Ravi Lamichhane was in the bench of Judge Prahlad Kumar Yogi. After Lamichhane appeared in court at 10 o'clock, his case was also taken to the round of judges for appearance . Lamichhane's statement will be made on Wednesday itself and after the statement is finished, there will be a closed debate.

According to Lamichhane's secretariat source, at most three lawyers will come from Kathmandu. However, it is not yet certain who will come.

Senior advocate Narayanadatta Kandel has arrived in Bhairawa on Wednesday. Sources in his secretariat said that 2 more lawyers will come from Kathmandu. Butwal Bar President Govind Marasini is likely to debate from Rupandehi. 

A case has been registered against 22 people, including Lamichhane and former DIG Chabilal Joshi, for cooperative fraud and organized crime, and 17 people, including Gitendrababu Rai, have been charged with additional crimes.

A supplementary complaint was filed against him on October 5. Ravi Lamichhane was arrested on October 2nd on charges of co-operative fraud. The police brought him to Rupandehi on October 27, who was in Kaski police custody, and made him testify for three days . Then he was taken to Kaski custody.

However, the District Police Office Butwal and the District Public Prosecutor's Office Roopandehi, who are investigating the case registered on Sunday, have also listed Lamichhane as a fugitive.

Ravi Kaski was released from the district court on 25th of January after paying a bond of 65 lakhs. Then he appeared in the Kathmandu District Court on 28th December. He was released from there on January 2 after paying a bond of 60 lakhs.
