Questions have been raised within the Maoist party after former Vice President Nanda Bahadur tried to return to active politics. Maoist leaders have questioned saying that a person who has reached a respected position will send a wrong message when he comes to party politics.

In the standing committee meeting in the last week of December, Senior Vice President Narayan Kaji Shrestha said that the former vice president's entry into active politics is not only a matter of the party, and he said that the post of president and vice president is an honorable position in the country.

"A person who has reached a respected position coming into active politics is not only a matter within the party," he said, "it is a matter of national position and establishment". It is wrong for the president and vice president to join active politics.' In the same standing committee meeting, Anjana Vishankhe raised a question about the former vice president coming back to party politics.

This topic was also raised in the Central Committee meeting that ended in the last week of December. Half a dozen leaders including leaders Sudan Kiranti, Indra Angbo, Lekhnath Neupane, Kulprasad Samba said that it would be appropriate for the former vice president to remain in a respectable state and should not come into active politics .

After a question was raised about the vice president's return to active politics in the central committee meeting, his journey to active politics has been stopped. President Pushpa Kamal Dahal is preparing to appoint former Vice President Pun as Vice President, but it has been postponed due to a dispute. The leaders were of the opinion that former Vice President Pun should not be nominated in violation of the party constitution. The Legislative Assembly of February 2080 passed a new statute. Dahal said in the Central Committee meeting that he wanted to be active himself, mentioning that there is no legal restriction for a person who has been vice president to come back to politics. "I said that I will work actively in the party again, that's why I came to the meeting as an invitation," said Dahal.

According to an official of the Maoist party, the preparations to nominate the former vice president as the vice president have been postponed. "There was a preparation to nominate the vice president. It has been postponed as a question was raised within the party," said the official.

Former Vice President Pun has told his close leaders that he wants to be active and contribute to the party. "Rather than going to take a position, I tried to be active with the intention of contributing something to the system brought by fighting," he said.

Indra Angbo, a member of the Maoist Central Committee, said that a person who has become the President and Vice President once should stay above the circle of questions. "It is not appropriate for a person who has become president or vice president to enter politics," he said, "rather, he should remain in a respectable position and work in the fields of women, children, environment, education, and health."

Mentioning the need to fight, he said that if defeated, he would face unpleasant consequences. "Now anyone should be elected in the democratic system inside and outside the party," he said, "what happens if the person who reaches that place is defeated?" He also suggested that when a person who has been honored once is active in politics, he should not engage in the game of 'slander, factionalism, and harm'.
