The meeting of the chief whips of the four major parties in the Parliament concluded that all the parties should work together to increase the efficiency of the Parliament.
Friday at Singha Durbar Mahesh Bertaula, UML's chief whip, said that the meeting of the chief whips had reached such a conclusion. He said that there was a discussion about the role of the parliamentary parties in bringing the business or bills given to the parliament by the government to the level of legislation in a quick manner.
'In today's meeting, how can we move forward in terms of drafting the bill? We had a discussion about how we can make the work of the Parliament more effective in a common way. In particular, the opposition and we also discussed the opinion of the chief whips of the four parties, mainly about the bills pending in the parliament,' What kind of role will you play? How should we go if we set a deadline? We discussed these and other issues.'
He said that the major four parties have agreed to solve the problem of the bills brought by the government in the parliament being held up for years when the parliament did not complete them. He said that in order to prove that the Parliament is strong in the matter of law making, there was also a discussion on the matter of proceeding with necessary discussions and cooperation.
He said, 'In general, the conclusion of our meeting today is that we have come to the conclusion that all the parties should stand together and work together to achieve the effectiveness of the Parliament and to establish that the Parliament is capable of making bills.'
