The police have detained the person who assaulted senior advocate Dinesh Tripathi outside the Kathmandu District Court and have given them seven days to investigate. Lalit Kumar KC was arrested after the incident on Wednesday.

The arrested KC has been detained in Sihandarbar Circle. According to the police, he has said in his statement that he is a real estate dealer. But the police have not found any evidence about whether he is a member of Rashtriya Swatantra Party (RASWPA) or not.

A police officer involved in the investigation has not given any clear reason why KC, who is in custody, committed the assault. He said, 'An investigation is also being conducted from the angle of whether he has a relationship with the RASWPA and why he did the handiwork.'

The police are also looking for other people involved in the incident.

Senior advocate Tripathi was assaulted on Wednesday while returning from arguing against National Independent Party Chairman Ravi Lamichhane in the Swarnalakshmi Cooperative fraud.

After that, the police took him to a safe place. Advocate Tripathi argued on behalf of Swarnalakshmi co-op victim in the Kathmandu District Court.

During the custody debate held in the courtroom of Judge Madhav Prasad Adhikari in the Kathmandu District Court on Wednesday, the government lawyers made a counter argument on behalf of the defendant.
