UML General Secretary Shankar Pokharel has said that it is not possible to unite with a person who once occupied the leading position of the party and the country.
Addressing the dialogue program organized by the Nepal Intellectuals Council and Progressive Professors Organization in Ghorahi on Saturday morning, he expressed the opinion that no unity should be created by carrying the people who once occupied the executive position.
He expressed the opinion that the party cannot be united by carrying people who worked in the executive roles of the party and the country like Madhav Kumar Nepal, Jhalnath Khanal, Pushpa Kamal Dahal, Bamdev Gautam. He said that such unity will not be fruitful as the organization cannot be strengthened if a person who once held a key position creates a position including a senior leader and stays in the party. Taking the view that this applies to KP Sharma Oli as well, Pokharel said that it would not be appropriate for Oli to remain in the party in any role after leaving the chairmanship. He said that once a person in an executive role sits in a second or other role, as there is a past experience of creating some kind of problem in the party, the same mistake cannot be repeated now.
