The bridge of Dumkibas under the East-West highway has been blocked, and the traffic has been disrupted. According to the area police office, Dumkibas, the bridge was broken due to an Indian cargo lorry with an excessive load.

Due to the overloaded lorry, the Binayi Khola bridge, a little east of Dumkibas, broke down on Friday around 5:30 pm. According to Rajan Timilsina, police inspector of Dumkibas area police office, the bridge buckled when a heavy lorry was passing on the dilapidated bridge.

Highway traffic has come to a standstill until the diversion road is constructed. The police have stopped vehicles traveling east-west through the highway at Daunna and Arunkhola until an alternative road is constructed.

The police said that the east-west vehicles were stopped at Arunkhola and Bardghat in order not to have too much traffic in one place.  Vinayi Khola bridge is the longest among those in East Nawalparasi. The police say that there is also a problem in removing the lorry stuck on the bridge.
