A corruption case has been filed against the chief administrative officer who took bribes in the Abuse of Authority Investigation Office. On Thursday, the Authority filed a corruption case in the special court against Dhruv Prasad Sapkota, who is currently working as the chief administrative officer in Kispang Rural Municipality of Nuwakot.
It is alleged that Sapkota took bribe for the purchase of machinery when he was working as the chief administrative officer of Melekh Rural Municipality of Achham. The Kanchanpur office of the Authority was also investigating him on the same charge.
Sapkota went to the Kanchanpur office of the authority He gave an envelope with documents. The investigating officer asked Sapkota to open the envelope inside the green bag. After seeing 1 lakh rupees in the envelope, the investigating officer asked, 'Whose money is this?' asked Sapkota. Then Sapkota said, 'I brought it voluntarily for you to settle the case.' The authority immediately took Sapkota under control saying that he had come with the intention of giving bribe.
When he was working as the chief administrative officer of Mellekh rural municipality, while he was investigating the complaint that he had committed irregularities in the procurement process, the investigating officer was sued The authority has filed a corruption case for bribery not to proceed. According to Narahari Ghimire, the spokesperson of the authority, a charge sheet has been filed in the special court with a fine of 100,000 Bigo against Sapkota in accordance with the Prevention of Corruption Act-2059.
