Residents of Olangchungola, a border settlement, have not been able to sleep safely for three days since the earthquake of magnitude 6.8 occurred on Monday morning in Dingri County, Tibet, China. The aftershocks of the earthquake are driving the residents from their homes.

Nupu Sherpa of Paktanglung Rural Municipality-7, Olangchungola, says that he felt aftershocks 17 times on Wednesday and Thursday alone. "It was very noisy twice on Wednesday at 7 pm and 9 pm," he said. Chungdak Sherpa says that she is worried about whether a big one will come as small earthquakes continue. "On Wednesday night at 7 o'clock, we left the food and ran away," she said. ``We are burning incense in the monastery so that nothing happens,'' she added, ``even if there is a small tremor, we are afraid.'' "We are watching from the television," said Nupu, "now that the media has started to reduce the matter there, we have started calling and asking." A resident of Fale in Phatkanglung-6 Lelep said that Mingma Sherpa, a local resident, was talking to his relatives in Dingri County, Tibet through WeChat. "One of his relatives, a lama, is here," said Mingma, "he also showed a video of the damage on WeChat talking to his cousin's son."

The lama is a Tibetan refugee living in Fale. Due to the earthquake in Dingri, there was no human or material damage in the settlements of the border area. Former ward president Cheten Sherpa Bhote says that he is mentally disturbed when the aftershock is going on.

'It went 12/15 times to know that it shakes from time to time.' According to seismologist Lokvijay Adhikari of the National Earthquake Measurement and Research Center, 852 aftershocks have been measured from Nepal until Thursday morning after the earthquake in Tibet. A dozen of those aftershocks are over 4.0 magnitude . He said that all these are the aftershocks of the Tibet earthquake. He said that since Olangchungola is a border settlement, the aftershocks may have been felt more.

126 people have died and nearly 200 people have been injured in the earthquake that happened in Tibet on Tuesday.
