After the 6.8 magnitude earthquake on Tuesday morning in Tibet, an autonomous region of China, aftershocks are still going on. According to Chinese media CGTN, 660 aftershocks have been recorded by 10 am on Wednesday. According to the National Earthquake Measurement and Research Center, some aftershocks were also felt in Nepal.
According to Bharat Prasad Koirala, head of the Center's Seismic Risk Assessment Branch, 616 aftershocks have been measured even from Nepal till 9 am on Wednesday morning. "There are 10 aftershocks every half hour," he said, "all these are 2 to 5.7 magnitude aftershocks."
On Tuesday, a powerful earthquake occurred in Dinghi County, Tibet at 9:55 local time. According to Chinese media, 126 people died and 188 people were injured in the earthquake. According to local authorities, more than 3,600 houses have been destroyed by the earthquake and 30,000 local residents have been relocated.
The epicenter of the earthquake is 93 km away from the border area of Nepal. The shock of the earthquake was also felt in Nepal, India, Bangladesh and Bhutan. According to the Nepal Police, the earthquake damaged some houses in Okhaldhunga, Solukhumbu and Sankhuwasabha in Nepal.
