Public transport fares hiked [including fares]

The government has increased the fare of public transport. With the agreement of the ministerial level of the Ministry of Physical Infrastructure and Transport of the Government of Nepal, the fares of passenger and freight vehicles of inter-provincial public transport vehicles have been increased by adjusting the fares of the inter-provincial public transport vehicles with effect from Monday.

The Department of Transportation has said that after conducting a market study regarding the investment and expenses related to public transportation operation, the new fare rate has been implemented taking into account the price increase in the main indicators including wages of workers, fuel, tires, interest, operating expenses, reductions and operating profit.

according to  3.30 percent increase in passenger vehicles, 0.81 percent increase in cargo vehicles operating on mountain roads and 0.05 percent increase in cargo vehicles operating on Terai routes. 

The new fare will be applicable on all interprovincial short, medium and long distance public transport routes. Apart from this, the specified fare includes deluxe and  Public vehicles with super deluxe facilities can charge up to 20 percent more fare. According to the department, for this, a provision has been made that deluxe facilities should be mentioned in the blue book.
