Former mayor of Birtamod Sivakoti in custody pending trial on rape charges

Dhruv Kumar Sivakoti, the former mayor of Birtamod municipality and UML leader, was sent to jail on Monday on the charge of child molestation. The bench of Jhapa District Court Judge Naveen Kumar Joshi has ordered to send him to prison for preliminary investigation.

Sivakoti was arrested by the police on November 24 on the charge of forcing a 16-year-old domestic worker. After his arrest, he was admitted to B&C Hospital. A complaint has also been filed against Sivakoti in the National Human Rights Commission. The family of the victim filed a complaint in the National Human Rights Commission last Sunday against the former head of Birtamod Municipality, Dhruv Kumar Sivakoti, who was accused of raping a girl who worked at home.  According to the complaint registered with the

commission, it is mentioned that Sivakoti has been raping the victim 16-year-old girl continuously for the past three years . The uncles of the victim, Shivkumar Pathak, a resident of Mechinagar 6 and Meghnath Pathak, a resident of Kankai 2, have claimed that the entire state apparatus is working to acquit the accused.  Girls with weak economic conditions  Sivakoti hired her as a domestic worker 8 years ago on the condition that she would teach school and also help with housework. 

On November 24th, Sivakoti was arrested by the police from Kakdavitta and sent to the local police office Birtamod. She was studying in class 11 and was going to India in the morning of November 24th in her school uniform. At the same time, Sivakoti's story came out when the relative Nepali staff stationed at the border to control the trafficking of virgins stopped her at the checkpoint and interrogated her.

According to the employee of relative Nepal, the girl was stopped at the checkpoint and taken to the area police office Kakdvitta. At the same time, when the police interrogated her, she made public the Kartu of Sivakoti . Gurung said, "When he tried to send her home with the help of the police, the secret of her sexual harassment was revealed when she was refused."

The police called the former chief Sivakotoli to the office to understand the girl. At the same time, he was arrested and brought to the local police office in Birtamode and a complaint was filed in the Birtamode police. Due to the pressure of various organizations, the victim's family reported that they filed a complaint at 10 o'clock at night. However, the police have not given the registration number of the complaint to the victim.
