Prime Minister and UML President KP Sharma Oli has admitted that the party could not achieve the expected results in the local by-elections held on December 16. UML President Oli, while presenting a political report at the eighth meeting of the Central Committee, said that the attraction towards the party has not increased in Sahariya public opinion.

In the by-elections at the local level, UML won 8 seats including one village president, two vice presidents and 5 ward presidents.  On November 16th, by-elections were held in 42 vacant positions at the local level (including two more District Coordination Committees). In the case that 7 wards won by UML are vacant, the victory achieved in 8 seats including the village chairman and vice-chairman  It is mentioned in President Oli's report that there were successful and positive results.

Chairman Oli has said that the party should take it seriously for not achieving the expected results in Kirtipur. "We have to take seriously the fact that only one of the wards won in the past won (although this trend is also seen in the case of other parties), the expected results are not achieved in a place like Kirtipur and the expected attraction in the Sahariya public opinion is not increased," says Oli's report.

In Kirtipur, UML was expected to win the election but it was in the third place . Congress candidate Krishnaman Dangol won the mayorship of Kirtipur Municipality. Congress candidate Dangol won with 5,334 votes. He won by a margin of 779 votes. Shiv Sharan Maharjan of Maoist, the nearest competitor of Dangol, got 4 thousand 555 votes. Similarly, CPN-UML candidate Surendra Manandhar got 4,337 votes.

Likewise, UML President Oli has also said that the Maoist center is trying to spread a misleading message about the local by-election results. Oli also says that the Maoists are promoting that the popular vote has increased rapidly. "It is true that the Maoist center has won 11 seats from 8, but yesterday, during the 6-party alliance, it did not field a candidate and because of that, it was seen that its votes increased only by adding the votes received in the places where there were zero votes," Oli said in his political statement.

This is the political report presented by Oli at the Central Committee meeting.
