Water Supply Minister Pradiv Yadav has said that the government is committed to provide clean drinking water to the people of Butwal by completing the Jhumsa Khola water supply project in Butwal as soon as possible.

Under the Butwal water supply improvement project, minister Yadav said that the water supply problem of Butwal will be solved while inspecting the Jhumsa river water supply project, which is being built by the Nepal Water Supply Institute, on Tuesday along with the technical team.

Water supply minister Yadav said, 'Jhumsa river water supply project will be completed as soon as possible and the work is being done according to the government's goal of providing pure and clean water to the citizens here.'

Minister Yadav held a detailed discussion and interaction program with the stakeholders of the Jhumsa river water supply project. He said that he is always working to solve the problem.

Minister Yadav said that although there is a daily demand of 30 million liters of drinking water in Butwal, a total of 22 million liters of water is being distributed and if the Jhumsa project is completed, clean drinking water will be available 24 hours a day in all wards of Butwal sub-metropolitan city.

Minister Yadav informed in the program that by adding 32 million liters of water from Jhumsa, about 59 million liters of water will be produced and distributed daily to benefit about 300,000 people.

It is said that nearly three decades have passed since the Jhumsa water supply project started with an investment of about 6 billion . According to the Nepal Drinking Water Institute, the Jhumsa drinking water project started in 2052/053 with a plan to bring water from Sisne river in Palpa to Butwal.

After several years of efforts, the project failed again in 2064 to bring drinking water from beyond Jhumsa.
