Purna Bahadur Nepali, the proposed ambassador to Sri Lanka, has said that he will take the initiative of Nepal-Sri Lanka direct air flight. The Nepalese said that if the name is approved in the parliamentary hearing committee and there is an opportunity to act as an ambassador, they will initiate a direct flight between Nepal and Sri Lanka.
Presenting his concept and action plan at the parliamentary hearing committee's meeting on Sunday, the proposed Nepalese ambassador said that since the Buddhists in Sri Lanka want to visit Lumbini, the birthplace of Gautama Buddha, there is a need for a direct flight.
The Nepalese said that they will take the initiative to expand and improve the air service between Nepal and Sri Lanka (initiative for new flights at Gautama Buddha International Airport) and to continue flights at Tribhuvan International Airport.
Nepali has also mentioned in his action plan that bilateral educational, research and policy cooperation should be done. He said that Nepal and Sri Lankan universities should work as research and think tanks through collaboration and partnership.
The Nepalese say that ``soft power'' should also be used in relation to Nepal and Sri Lanka . He said that soft power should be used including Mount Everest and the birthplace of Gautama Buddha. He says that Nepal needs to work for tourism promotion.
