Anjala Koirala, the accused in the Uma-Gauri agricultural cooperative fraud case of Morang Dhanpalthan-3, has been absconding for two weeks. Koirala, who is also the wife of Parliament's Public Accounts Committee Chairman Rishikesh Pokharel, has not even attended the school where she is teaching.
Koirala was teaching at Mahendra Ratri High School in Biratnagar. A case was filed against him and others in the cooperative fraud case last December 27. The next day, on the 28th, she participated in the President's Running Shield event held at the school.
On January 1, he approved a 5-day leave, according to the school administration. She has been absconding ever since. Even though the vacation is over, she has not attended school since December 6. It's been a week since he didn't attend school.
Anjala's husband, Pokharel, sent a letter by email last Tuesday and requested an indefinite sick leave from the school. Principal Jhank Prasad Parajuli said that he called and asked him about the fact that he did not receive the letter. But he informed that the school has not approved the leave. Koirala is also the former director of Uma-Gauri Agricultural Cooperative.
According to the police investigation, more than 22 million rupees have been irregular in the fraud case of Uma-Gauri agricultural cooperative. It is alleged that 8 thousand 842 share members of the cooperative were defrauded of 30.8 million rupees and 707 debtors were defrauded of 240.3 million rupees.
The public prosecutor's office has filed a case against 26 accused, including Koirala, who is the current and former director of the cooperative, demanding a fine of 22.5 million rupees and a prison sentence of 6 to 8 years. Of the 243 million defrauded by the cooperatives, only 80 million have been recovered. The remaining 16 crore recovery is still pending.
