President Ramchandra Paudel has expressed deep sorrow over the death of former Prime Minister of India Manmohan Singh. President Paudel remembers Singh as a visionary leader and said that his death is a loss to South Asia.

President Paudel said in his condolence message,  'Dr. Singh was a visionary leader of India. His death has caused an irreparable loss to India and South Asia. I express my deepest condolences and sympathies to the Government and people of India as well as the bereaved family members.' 

Singh died at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in New Delhi during treatment at 9.51 pm Indian time on Thursday.

Singh, who was the Prime Minister of India from 2004 to 2014 and the Finance Minister before that, is considered a planner of liberalization and economic reforms in India.
