National Independent Party MP Sobita Gautam has proposed that trade unions should be abolished after political parties among civil servants.
In the Wednesday meeting of the State Order and Good Governance Committee under the House of Representatives, MP Gautam, who participated in the discussion as an amendment on the bill to regulate the formation, operation and conditions of service of the federal civil service, urged all political parties to agree on not having party trade unions in the personnel system.
MP Gautam's proposal was that all political parties and MPs should agree on keeping the only official trade union in the bureaucracy. She also said that the question of what the leaders of the political parties will do when the employees do politics. "It is necessary for all parliamentarians to agree on not having a party trade union." The job of an employee and a politician is different . What will be the situation if the work of politicians is done by employees,' said MP Gautam.
The proposal of MP Gautam came after some MPs of the Congress proposed that the provisions for holding trade unions in the bureaucracy should be kept in the civil service bill. He said that it is evident from the current practice that there will be problems when politics are inserted into the bureaucracy. "Practice so far has shown that introducing politics into the labor system will spoil it, a system of a national trade union should be maintained, but party trade unions should not be supported." A common trade union should be formed,' she said.
Member of Parliament Gautam has said that there should be a legal arrangement to facilitate reservation in civil service only once. He said that even after availing the reservation facility once, there should not be a legal arrangement to get the same facility again and again.
Likewise, MP Gautam said that the proposal made in the bill to reduce the age of entry into civil service is not correct. "There has been a provision to reduce the age of entry into the civil service. Now it is 32 years for men and 37 years for women. Thinking about this, why did we move towards reducing the age limit in this way? We need an answer as to how this proposal was made,' she said, 'When the average age is 60 years, it is 40 years, but now why increase the retirement age but reduce the entry age ? It doesn't matter if you arrange more. 42 years in the case of women and 37 years in the case of men.'
MP Gautam also proposes to raise the retirement age to 62 years. She said that if the entry age is increased, those who have obtained PhD and experience in other fields can also serve.
