Civil Bill is not women friendly: MP Koirala

Congress MPs have not objected to the Civil Bill as not being women-friendly. Congress MP Rama Koirala has objected that the Federal Civil Service Bill is not women-friendly as there is no proper arrangement for the promotion of women development officers since the age of service entry has been reduced.

Parliamentarian Koirala, who was present as an amendment to discuss the bill on the formation, operation and conditions of service of the Federal Civil Service in the Wednesday meeting of the State System and Good Governance Committee of the House of Representatives, had previously objected to the fact that the age for women to enter the civil service is 40 and has now been reduced.

She said, 'The way the Federal Civil Service Bill has come is not women-friendly. Today's constitution has given 1 third of women the right to enter the civil service and 1 third of women are entering the civil service. While they are entering, the bill is not women-friendly.

MP Koirala said that there is no arrangement for women development officers to go to higher positions. She said that the legal system for women development officers to be promoted to higher positions should be disclosed.

MP Koirala also objected to lowering the age limit for entry into the civil service. Currently, there is a legal provision that women can enter the civil service up to the age of 40 and men up to the age of 35. In the bill, it is proposed that women can enter service at 37 years and men at 32 years. MP Koirala asked, 'The right to get admission was given for 40 years, how come it was reduced to 37 years ? 40 years now for women  I want to keep what should and should be kept.'

Similarly, MP Koirala also said that the trade union should not be abolished among the civil servants . MP Koirala said that canceling the trade union will damage the country's national reputation.
