When he was the mayor of Kathmandu, he used to say, 'I am the main Kuchikar of this city.' In the first local elections after 2046, PL (Premlal) Singh, who became the mayor with the slogan 'Swach Harabhara Kathmandu', made greenery and cleanliness his first priority.

That is why he used to say that he was the 'main Kuchikar' to identify himself publicly as the head of the cleaners. The same Kuchikar of the metropolis died on Monday at the age of 88.

Congress leader and commander of Jan Andolan 2046 late Ganeshman Singh, known as the 'godson/politician son', Singh was elected as the mayor of Kathmandu in 2049. It was he who declared Kathmandu a metropolis. He had to fight a great political struggle to transform Kathmandu from a city to a metropolis. His priority was to make Kathmandu an international city. making a

. "That's why the work of establishing sisterly relations between Kathmandu and the cities of different countries was started from PL," says Congress leader Bhimsendas Pradhan, who was his advisor when he was mayor.

According to Pradhan, Singh brought a loan of 20 million dollars from the Asian Development Bank (ADB) at an interest rate of one percent to make Kathmandu an internationally developed city.

'Resources were needed for development, he tried to get resources from many sides,' says Pradhan, 'but unfortunately Congress did not give him the mayoral ticket for the second time.' were

Ganeshman Singh's wife Mangaladevi Singh and son Prakashman Singh were defeated in the 2048 general elections. Even in that situation, PL Singh won the mayorship of Kathmandu. According to Pradhan, due to the fight with Girija Prasad within the party, Ganeshman used to say, "Now if PL loses, I will be gone."  After the

, in the general election of 2056, Singh, who got a ticket from the then Kathmandu 4, defeated Padmaratna Tuladhar and entered the House of Representatives. Sher Bahadur Deuba was Minister of Population and Environment for 14 months. He remained celibate throughout his life. He used to laugh at unmarried people as the responsibility of the Ministry of Population. "He used to say that in a joking manner," says Pradhan, "He wanted to go to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, but due to internal conflicts within the party, that was not fulfilled." After Girija Prasad became a sharp critic of some of the decisions made by Koirala, he was gradually pushed aside from the party's politics. He even resigned as a member of the party after he had a 'fallout' with Koirala.

PL had a special attachment to the 2047 constitution. He did not readily accept the changes of 2062/63. Therefore, he did not enter the restored parliament. Krishnaprasad Bhattarai and he were the two persons who did not enter the restored Parliament. Both of them did not go to take oath in the restored parliament. He had deep love for Bhattarai. Both the leaders, who were single and flirtatious, had something in common. PL Krishna Prasad Bhattarai was also the president of the institute. For PL, Ganeshman was a father figure, while Bhattarai was a respected leader. PL was born in Naradevi, Kathmandu. His father Chandralal Singh was a famous compounder.

He started politics by becoming a central member of the Nepal Students' Union and was the spokesman of the Satyagraha movement launched by the PL Congress in 2042. After the bombing near Narayanhiti Palace, he stopped the satyagraha saying that the movement could not be violent. He played a major role in gathering the support of the international community and coordinating with the international media in the 2046 people's movement.

Ganeshman Singh was sent to Sundarijal Jail after Raja Mahendra's 'Ku' on 1st December 2017. The young man who supported his family in that situation of crisis was – PL. He was 17/18 at that time. The responsibility of taking care of the Ganeshman family fell on the shoulders of PL. Ganeshman's wife Mangaladevi Singh was also in jail. Ganeshman's sons Pradeep, Prakashman and three daughters were all babies. Pradeep was 7 and Prakashman was 5 years old. In that situation, PL Ganeshman was supported by the family. Mangaladevi wrote in the book "Steps of Women's Struggle", "PL never hesitated to enroll Pradeepman, Prakashman, Rita, Kanta and Mita in school, teach or feed them, what did PL do for us?"

"If the PL had not happened, it would have been very difficult for us," recalls Ganeshmanputra Prakashman, who is also the Deputy Prime Minister. "He is a personality who has made a great contribution not only to our family, but also to democracy," said Singh.

After the death of Ganeshman, Singh left Chaksibari and started living with his brother Indralal. However, when he started to get sick, Prakashman brought him to Chaksibari and kept him. "PL Dai spent 70/80 percent of his life in Chaksibari," says Pradhan, "He had a great attachment to the Chaksibari residence. He also wanted to say his last farewell from here.'

He has been cremated at Lakhtirtha along with Kinkeshwari Temple in Bhimsensthan in Kathmandu. Bhai Indralal gave the lamp.
