Between India and Bangladesh, there were train services from three routes and bus services from four routes. Neither the train service nor the bus has been running for some time. Both these transport infrastructures connecting the two countries are blocked indefinitely.

Bangladesh's latest  Due to political events and the collapse of Sheikh Hasina's government, the relationship between India and Bangladesh has been strained, according to the Indian media. "The direct impact of this has appeared on the train and bus services between India and Bangladesh," the Indian media wrote.

The 'Mithali Express' train service started on 1 June 2022 is considered as a symbol of India-Bangladesh friendship . However, this train was recently attacked in Bangladesh. Most of the coaches of the train were vandalized. The window mirrors were sent broken . Since then this train has not returned to Bangladesh .

In particular, there is rail connection between India and Bangladesh from three places. Mithali Express for New Jalpaiguri-Dhaka in North Bengal, Maitri Express for Kolkata-Dhaka and Bandhan Express for Kolkata-Khulna were operating . Trains of these three routes are now blocked.

Maitri Express is the main means of transport connecting Kolkata to Dhaka. In 2008, India reopened two old British colonial railway lines. Which is the brotherhood between India-Bangladesh,  It is believed to have helped in promoting friendship and peace.

Before the independence of India, trains used to connect cities like Kolkata - Khulna and Jessore in the then East Bengal. During the 1965 India-Pakistan war, all rail services between India and East Pakistan (present-day Bangladesh) were stopped.

After more than five decades, India and Bangladesh started the train service between Kolkata and Khulna on November 9, 2017 . The train named Bandhan Express was jointly inaugurated by Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee through virtual media.

Not only the train, but also the bus service between India and Bangladesh has been stopped . According to Juyel Ghosh, a businessman who operates the India-Bangladesh bus, the last  Since the month of August, entry into the border area has also been closed . "Business has stopped due to the undeclared embargo between India and Bangladesh", says the businessman, "It is not possible to predict when the situation will improve."

India had been operating buses with Bangladesh through five main routes namely Changrabanda-Dhaka, Phulbari-Dhaka, Kolkata-Dhaka, Kolkata-Khulna, Agartala-Dhaka and Silong-Guwahati-Dhaka. Now the transport connection of these five routes is blocked .

'In the past, there was a crowd of travelers coming to India and going to Bangladesh,' said Gautam Chhetri, a Nepali-speaking driver of the Phulbari-Dhaka route, 'now it is bad.'
