The Kaski Police have investigated and submitted a report to the District Public Prosecutor's Office against the Chairman of the Rashtriya Swatantra Party (RASWPA) and former Home Minister Ravi Lamichhane on charges related to co-operative fraud, organized crime and money laundering.
Kaski Police Investigation Officer DSP Vasant Sharma informed that the report prepared after investigating Lamichhane was submitted to the District Public Prosecutor's office on Monday.
Former DIG Chabilal Joshi, Leela Pacchain, Ram Bahadur Khanal and Krishna Bahadur Gurung are in police custody along with Lamichhane on charges of embezzling the savings of Suryadarshan Sahakari of Pokhara. The police took Lamichhane into custody on October 2nd.
They are being investigated for cooperative fraud, organized crime and money laundering. There is a legal provision that can be detained for up to two months for investigation into money laundering. According to which Lamichhane has been detained by the police for two months next Saturday.
District Attorney Kamala Kafle said that the investigation report was recently received from the police and as it is under study, preparations are being made to submit the case to the court. The deadline extended last time for the investigation of Lamichhane is ending on Monday .
On Tuesday, the police are preparing to submit to the court for another deadline . District Attorney Kafle said that an appeal will be made in the court for extension of the deadline on Tuesday.
'The research report is yet to be studied . As it will take time to decide which offense will be attracted, the deadline will be asked for on Tuesday as well,' she said .
