Ravi Lamichhane, chairman of RSVP and former home minister, who is in police custody for investigating crimes related to cooperative fraud, organized crime and money laundering, has expressed his anger on Surya Thapa, the chairman of the parliamentary special investigation committee.
Lamichhane, who was brought to the district court on Thursday for extension of time, alleged that he is being treated by the government according to the 'script' written by Thapa.
In the courtroom, Lamichhane said that even though the report of the committee found him innocent, what Chairman Thapa said was enough. He (Thapa) used to say in the media that they will be taken here and there, this place will be rotated, organized crime and money laundering will be attracted, he said. Now it's midterm. It is a story written in a planned manner. All this is the work of writer Surya Thapa.' He repeated the argument that political revenge was taken against him, 'media trial' was carried out, and that the government intended to cause pain.
Lamichhane asked the judge to do a historic thing by ordering him to be released from custody, claiming that he was being chased by the state. "The way I have been filmed in a film style, I have kept in mind what will happen tomorrow. However, due to the presence of God-like judges, I will get justice in terms of orders and verdicts,' Yuvraj Parajuli, the advocate for Zaherwala, said, quoting Lamichhane's statement, 'Hopefully, a historic work will be done by the husband. After retiring tomorrow, my husband will be proud of the fact that he freed a person who was chased by the state from custody.'' It is not like that, a common citizen is doing it according to the calculations that should have been investigated. Don't speak in the wrong way.'
After the argument of the government lawyer and legal practitioner, Judge Paudyal allowed the accused to speak and Lamichhane moved forward. Chabilal Joshi, Leela Pachai, Ram Bahadur Khanal and Krishna Bahadur Gurung, who were brought to the court for extension, did not speak. Gurung, who was arrested for the same crime, did not go to court because he was undergoing treatment in the hospital. District Judge Poudel has allowed the police five more days to investigate the five people who were brought before the court. They were arrested during the investigation of savings embezzlement of Suryadarshan Cooperative of Pokhara.
Lamichhane, who was arrested on October 2, has been extended for the seventh time. It has been 81 days since the arrest of the former director of Gorkha Media Network, former DIG Joshi. Money laundering offenses can be investigated with a maximum of 90 days in custody, but since the time limit for Lamichhane and Joshi has to be met from the day Joshi was arrested, the indictment must be filed in the court within 9 days.
