Courage to fight cancer

When you need the courage to live, as if you are going to die tomorrow, it is very sad when relatives who have never come to meet you come in line. It would have been good if the people who came to see me as sick would have added enthusiasm, the enthusiasm of talking with a little tearful face would have died.

29-year-old Kanchan Rumba of Kavre Bethanchok-5 has been admitted to Hospice Nepal in Lalitpur's Mahalakshmishan for pain management for a month. He has esophageal cancer. Because the cancer has spread to other parts of the body, his pain is being managed there under 'palliative care'.

On May 17, Kanchan was taken to the emergency room of Helping Hands Community Hospital in Chabhil for treatment after suffering unbearable stomach pain. Didi Akash was living with Rumba in Chandol, Kathmandu, and it was discovered that she had flesh growing in her esophagus during treatment. Later, the cancer was confirmed by taking a sample of the part through endoscopy. After that, he was taken to Kathmandu Cancer Care Center (KCC) at Tathali, Bhaktapur for further treatment. Since then, Kanchan's battle with cancer continues.

According to Didi Akash, Kanchan was taken to KCC on the advice of a doctor from Helping Hands. Even though he was taken to KCC, he was informed that he had cancer. There was no

. It was said that he was admitted to the hospital only for the treatment of a fleshy growth in the esophagus.

But Kanchan, who can read and write, could not hide the fact that he had cancer for a long time. Hospice meeting  Kanchan's biggest  That was the

ing complaint. "Cancer is not only treated, it has to be fought and won. But the patient who has to fight is hidden about the disease

is where defeat starts," she said, "Patients with other diseases know everything. Patients with asthma, blood pressure, diabetes are not hidden. Why is a cancer patient being hidden?' His eyes filled with tears as he poured out his heart while looking at his sister, who was listening to everything sitting next to him. "Didi, there is no doubt that my father loves me very much. But it hurts that I didn't say clearly about the disease that I have to struggle with the most,' she said, 'I think that no one should hide about his condition from the cancer patient, but rather talk about it.' Now the courage to fight cancer has grown. He wants to be a 'cancer fighter' and start a campaign to normalize this disease like any other disease.

'After being diagnosed with cancer, most of the doctors and health workers in the hospital have been ignoring me, I didn't like it at all,' she said, 'They are the ones who have taken charge of saving lives by treating and not having the slightest sympathy for the patient and announcing that he may die at any time. What is the mood?' Kanchan says that she is more disturbed by the behavior of the doctors and health workers while being treated because she is a cancer patient. Who knows when someone will die? She said, "It is too much to treat a patient who is dying in front of the patient." -break She says that cancer patients need courage and enthusiasm, not sympathy. When you need the courage to live, it is tomorrow.

When a relative who has never come to meet is coming in a line like he is about to die, it is very sad,' she said, 'It would have been good if they had added enthusiasm because they came to visit as a patient. Even the excitement of talking with a tearful face dies.'

According to Didi Akash, Kanchan's condition became very critical after the first chemo at KCC. After recovering from that, she did not dare to go to the hospital again.

He was taken to Nepal Medical College in Attarkhel for further treatment. She said that the treatment experience there was not worth remembering.

'At the beginning, the treatment in Nepal Medical College was fine. He was admitted to the ICU for treatment. The platelets dropped to 3,000 due to chemo,' Akash said, 'During the treatment, the doctor told her that she could bleed from anywhere at any time, and then her mental condition deteriorated.' His experience shows that it causes great pain to the parents as well. He has also been broken hearted many times by the harsh words of the pharmacist when he went to the hospital pharmacy to get a tablet to relieve the pain of his sister who has cancer. "Every problem will be known only when it happens to you. When they are taken to the hospital due to pain, they try to discharge them as soon as possible. On top of that, they are greedy to give pain relievers,' she said It seems that life would not be painful as long as it lived. "When I was suffering from pain at home and coming here, I thought I would not live for more than 7-10 days. After coming here and being free from pain, I felt that I got salvation,' she said, 'How many people like me are looking for a way to get rid of pain. Everyone would have been happy if they could experience peace like me, even if they had some time before death.'
