The Central Investigation Bureau (CIB) of the Nepal Police has completed the work of taking a statement from the controversial businessman Durga Prasai. The police are also investigating him for the crime of threatening Nepali businessmen by taking the name of Indian gangster Lawrence Bisnoi. According to CIB sources, Prasain said during the statement that he has no relationship with Bisnoi.

But it seems that he had phone contact with Harichandra Phuyal of Jhapa Mechinagar, who threatened the Nepali businessman by saying that he had a relationship with Bisnoi. According to CIB sources, it is seen that Phuyal and Prasai have been talking for 5 consecutive days. The CIB has sent the call record to the forensic laboratory for testing. Similarly, the police said that Prasain had also sent a voucher of 5 lakh rupees to Phuyal. 

According to the CIB sources, several evidences have been found regarding the fact that Prasai, who is being investigated for the crime of criminal gain and organized crime, used individuals in India to extort money from Nepalese businessmen by threatening them.

In 2018, CIB started investigating Prasain in the crime of threatening businessmen and businessmen of Nepal using the name of Lawrence Vishnoi, an Indian goon who came into the limelight for threatening to kill Bollywood actor Salman Khan. CIB has already arrested Harichandra Phuyal of Jhapa Mechinagar on 14th November for this crime.

According to CIB, during the statement, Harichandra not only said that he was threatened by the businessman to get money from Prasai, the police also gave proof of the exchange of documents and audio of the conversation between the two on his phone. According to CIB sources, audio records found on Prasain's mobile confirm his involvement. CIB spokesperson SP Hobindra Bogti said that so far three or four businessmen have filed a complaint saying that Lawrence Vishnoi's name has been threatened and they are also collecting information about other businessmen who have received such threats.

Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli was arrested from his home in Bhaktapur on November 4 after making public fake documents along with his controversial statement about investing in Cambodia through social media. Initially, the Cyber ​​Bureau started an investigation against him for violating the Electronic Transactions Act. CIB started investigation on him after the investigation on this matter.

Who is Harichandra who helps Durga Prasai?

The background of Harichandra Phuyal, who was employed by the CIB in India to threaten Nepali businessmen and businessmen in collusion with the Prussians, is connected to the Maoist background. According to CIB, he was an active worker of Maoist around 2059.

It seems that Harichandra met Durga Prasai while he was active in the Maoists. According to the CIB, Harichandra, who did not continue his studies but had the aim of making quick and big money, was recently active in threatening various traders and businessmen through social media while staying in India under the direction of Prasai.

The police have also found records of more than 100 conversations between Harichandra and Prasai during the time when the businessmen said that they received threats.
