Labor Employment and Social Security Minister Sharatsingh Bhandari has said that health institutions that conduct health checks of workers going for foreign employment will not be classified separately.

Organizations that test the health of workers should maintain labs according to international standards. Such institutions should not be classified as A, B, C,' he said while addressing the 19th convention of the Nepal Health Professionals Federation, 'everyone has the same standard. It should be quality. It should be international. Everyone should implement those standards effectively.

He said that the Ministry of Labor and Health has given responsibility to health institutions for the quality health examination of workers. "We have big hospitals. In spite of that, health institutions have been given the responsibility of testing to organize the field of foreign employment,'' he said, 'to maintain the quality of those institutions, standards must be followed.' 15,000 workers have died since 2065. Workers who have gone to foreign jobs are suffering from heat stress. He is suffering from kidney and heart disease. "Sudden death" of workers is happening," he said. "We are in the process of developing a mechanism to monitor the health of workers from the time they leave home to the time they work at the workplace," he said. 

Chief Secretary Ek Narayan Aryal said that since the destination country has to evaluate the health tests conducted in Nepal, special attention should be paid to the quality. According to the standards that we have made, the workers sent to the destination country are also undergoing health tests. There is a situation where there is a medical fit in Nepal but it is unfit abroad,'' he said. Service fee is also connected with quality.

Labor Secretary Mukunda Prasad Niraula and Secretary of Abuse of Authority Investigation Commission Ghanshyam Upadhyay said that monitoring and action will be taken together to ensure quality health examination.

Acting Ambassador of Malaysia to Nepal Mohammad Firdos Azam said that Malaysia is working closely with selected health institutions in Nepal. Ensuring the quality health examination of workers going to Malaysia  We are cooperating with the organizations we have chosen to do this," he said. "This cooperation has helped to fulfill the mutual trust and commitment between the two countries for the welfare of the workers. It has reduced the health risks of the workers and further promoted the workplace environment.'  

The conference unanimously elected a 14-member working committee under the leadership of Kailash Khadka. Senior vice president Maheshraj Shrestha, first vice president Gayatri JC, second vice president Dhan Bahadur Giri, general secretary Dataram Kafle, secretary Lilambar Jha, treasurer Rampukar Tiwari are the senior vice president of the working committee.

Similarly, the central members are Chandra Rai, Pravesh Rokka Chhetri, Deepak Kumar Karki, Bel Bahadur Shrestha, Keshar Thapa, Rozina Shakya and Ram Prasad Lamsal. The convention has decided to fully comply with the policies, laws, regulations and procedures adopted by the governments of the destination country Malaysia and Nepal to ensure the quality of health examination of workers going for foreign employment. The closed session has welcomed the report of the expert study task force for the improvement of the health examination of workers going for foreign employment, which was formed by the Ministry of Labour, Employment and Social Security under the leadership of Additional Secretary of the Ministry of Health, Dipendra Raman Singh, and suggested to the government to implement it.
