US Assistant Secretary of State Donald Loo met Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba on Sunday afternoon. Lu, who is on a visit to Nepal, reached Budanilkanth and held a meeting with Deuba, who is also the former Prime Minister.

Lu, who embarked on a three-day visit to Nepal via India and Sri Lanka on Sunday, spoke to Deuba about further strengthening the relationship between the two countries, according to his own Bhanu Deuba. After Deuba, Lu is meeting Chairman of the Maoist Center and former Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal. Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli will not meet Lu because he will be on a two-day visit. In addition, Assistant Foreign Minister Lu will interact with Nepali leaders as well as civil society.
According to the embassy, his visit will play a role in strengthening the cooperation between Nepal and the US in the fields of environmental protection, women's empowerment, culture promotion and sustainable development.
