Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has asked for donations from the platform for the under-construction building of Manav Seva Ashram, under the patronage of his wife Radhika Shakya. He arrived at Bahundangi in Jhapa for the foundation laying ceremony of the ashram and after calling for the moon from the stage on Sunday, it was announced that he would donate more than 1 crore.
After laying the foundation stone of the building under construction and inaugurating the 19th branch of the Manav Seva Ashram, Prime Minister Oli did not make any political speech. Did not target any particular party . Instead, time was spent calling for donations for the ashram.
"It is not enough to announce the amount, take the ashram's bank account and deposit it there, the ashram does not have the time to come and collect the asam," Oli said. He has also called on everyone to make a habit of human service by saying that human service is the true service. Stating that human beings should take the lead to serve the people stranded on the streets, he said that the work that starts from the outside will be limited to the outside and only the work that starts from the feelings will be successful.
'I have decided to provide one month's salary for the construction of the ashram,' Oli started the donation collection process himself, 'Whoever wants to serve, please raise your hand.' After the Prime Minister's call, the donors came forward. Donors have announced donations ranging from 10,000 to 1 million. UML representatives are the most among those who announced the donation.
Most of the people's representatives have announced to donate one month's salary. Some municipalities including Mechinagar, Arjundhara said that they will provide 5 to 10 lakh rupees for ashrams. 1 lakh from local businessman Chandra Prasad Sitaula, 51 thousand from former state MP Shri Prasad Mainali, 11 lakh 11 thousand 111 from Neelkanth Tiwari, then president of Bahundangi village, 51 thousand from UML leader Bhim Khawas and 51 thousand from Oli's wife Radhika Shakya for two months of pension.
Ramkumar Pradhan, a local of Mechinagar 4, has donated one bigha of 5 kattha land for the ashram. Ramji Adhikari, head of the ashram, said that a state-of-the-art ashram is going to be built on the same land with an investment of around 20 crores. The ashram established in 2079 is currently spread over 25 districts.
