Four are visually impaired in a family of six in Ramwapur, Mayadevi rural municipality-4 of Rupandehi. Only 72-year-old Gopi Baniyan and her elder daughter Sunita can see. Gopi's wife Malati and three children are blind. The eldest daughter got married. 70-year-old Malati keeps getting sick from time to time.

Gopi goes from house to house and buys rice, paddy, dal, sells it in the market and runs the family expenses. "I have no one to work and raise a family except me," said Gopi, "I have got such a fortune, I will look after my children and my wife as long as I can." Then he went to work in India. After returning, he married Malati. Gopi was 26 years old at that time. The relatives arranged the matter. Married without seeing each other. It was only after bringing home that I found out that Malati was blind," said Gopi, "I could not leave the wife I had married. Now life is going on.'

The family was overjoyed as their eldest daughter Sunita was born safely. Gopi's mother took care of her children. Malati used to cook, wash the dishes and clean the house. "I brought up my daughter with the help of my mother-in-law," Malti said, "All the children after that were born like me, I raised other children with the help of my elder daughter and neighbors." After the marriage, Gopi even took her for treatment. He got the answer from the doctor that he could not see even after surgery due to dry eye veins. Miley's daughter Anita has been at home for 2 years. She completed her graduation in the Faculty of Education and is looking for employment.

"If I had seen it, I wouldn't have had such a problem," she said.

Anita, brother Jeevan and sister Sarita studied at Shanti Namanal Mavi in Tilottama-5. After SLC, Anita went to Kathmandu after a social organization helped her to study and live in Kathmandu. While studying in Kathmandu, she faced problems such as having to give up her sighted friend, some asking for money for writing in the exam, and hesitating to teach what she had read.

After coming from Kathmandu, while returning from Fupu's house, he was hit by a jeep while crossing the road. "In 2071, after being hit by a vehicle, I broke my leg and got an injury on my head," she said. "Now I stand on the road, people cut the road when they see me standing," she said.

She has a teacher's license. However, she is deprived of a job after failing to pass the Education Service Commission exam. "Because I was a father, we were able to study easily," she said, "but the situation at home is critical." We live in a leaky house, tin is cold in winter, my mother keeps getting sick, I want to apply ointment to my father's pain, but nothing can be done.''

Bhai Jeevan, who is interested in the media sector, has been living in Kathmandu for eight years and has been working in TV, radio and online along with his studies. He said that he is paying for his sister's education and his living expenses. Younger sister Sarita is blind and can't even hear. She has been studying in Kathmandu for four years and has graduated in Education.

Studying in a hostel, she could hear well until four years ago. Now he has hearing problems. Sarita is currently sitting in her room as she cannot go to college.

'As I have both hearing and understanding problems, preparations are being made for implant surgery next year. As the financial situation of the family is weak, it is becoming difficult to pay for education, treatment and stay in Kathmandu," Sarita said.
