Why are the communist leaders of Nepal visiting China?

Leaders of the Communist Party of Nepal have been visiting China. While UML president KP Sharma Oli was on a visit to China, former prime minister and senior unified socialist leader Jhalnath Khanal, Maoist senior vice president Narayankaji Shrestha were in China.

A team led by UML Politburo member Khimlal Bhattarai went to China on Thursday, the day after Shrestha's departure. The visit to China, which has been stalled for almost two years after the Corona epidemic, has recently become like a 'watershed' for the communist leader of Nepal.

Why do Nepali communist leaders go to China? The Chinese Communist Party (CPC) gives them a message ? The only message that the Nepali communist leader will get during his visit to China is, 'It is good if Nepali communists get together.'

But after returning from China, they criticize another communist party the most. In the last three months, more than a dozen leaders of Samya UML, Maoist, and Unified Socialists visited China. The senior leaders of the CPC International Department have always been asking them a question, why can't the communist parties of Nepal meet?

The Chinese Communist Party (CPC) has been maintaining a brotherly relationship with the Communist Party of Nepal. Even though the Communist Party of Nepal is divided into nine factions, the CPC has been seen as a close power. Nepali leaders have been failing to implement the CPC's suggestion that Nepal's communist forces should be united. Due to the personal interests of the communist leaders, even though they have almost the same idea, they have been dividing more than meeting.

When the UML and Maoist coalition government was formed last December, the CPC welcomed . But that alliance lasted only 6 months . Even after that, high-level visits of Communist leaders of Nepal continue. UML politburo member Bhattarai's 11-member team was bid farewell by General Secretary Shankar Pokharal at the central office. UML has been officially saying goodbye to the team that will visit China . It seems that UML is looking at the leaders' visit to China with importance .

Senior leader of United Socialist Party Jhalnath Khanal is in China to participate in the 'China Understanding' seminar organized by CPC in Guangzhou. As a speaker, he gave information on the telephone about the establishment of a socialist society and its development. "I had an opinion about the reform of the socialist society and its impact," he said in an interaction with a senior leader of the CPC, "I was curious as to why the Communists of Nepal split on the sidelines, why they cannot be united." Revolution and development became possible by us taking the right policy . Why can't you meet in your country? He said that leaders including the head of the organization department, the head of the school department, and the head of the front department of CPC are participating in the

summit. He visited China on November 15. On this Wednesday, Maoist Senior Vice President Shrestha flew to China to address a seminar on the development of South Asia. According to the private secretariat, he went to China to participate in a program on the development of South Asia in Shanghai.

UML Senior Vice President Pokharel, who paid a high-level visit on the invitation of CPC in the first week of November, said that the main objective was to strengthen brotherly relations. He said that there was a good discussion with the director of the CPC foreign department about the future relationship between UML and CPC. "There was a serious conversation with the CPC foreign department director about the relationship between the two parties." Experience was exchanged with the deputy head of the CPC Party School on party training, curriculum, etc.,'' he said that he has experienced that Nepal's communists have been expressing good wishes for good cooperation. This is CPC's well wish . CPC leaders suggest that Nepal Communist Party has its own specialty and should work accordingly.'

He said that he has clearly stated his views on the dispute between the Communists of Nepal. "We have to make it clear that the Communist Party of Nepal cannot get along," he said. There was a team of 15 people including member Dipendra Shrestha, central member Yakjan Devkota, Sarita Bhusal, Shanti Dhakal, Koshi State Committee Secretary Rajkumar Bhandari.

CPC held a virtual workshop with the leaders including Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal, senior leader Ishwar Pokharel after the merger between UML and Maoist to form CPN. Pokharel organized the workshop held at the then central office of the CPN, Dhumwarahi. During the visit of Chinese President Xi Jinping to Nepal in the last week of October 2076, there was a discussion on Xi's ideology with the participation of senior leaders of CPN and CPC. Even during the visit of Nepali communist leaders to China, 'democracy with Chinese characteristics' has been discussed.

UML, being the Maoist coalition government, went on a 10-day official visit under the leadership of UML Deputy General Secretary Vishnu Rimal at the invitation of CPC last June. UML President KP Sharma Oli briefed and instructed the 29-member team during the visit. At that time, CPC leaders congratulated the party for forming the government even though they could not come together. The alliance was broken while the UML team was on a tour of China.

Leaders of the second largest Communist Party of Nepal, Maoist Center, have also been making high-level visits. Senior Vice President Narayankaji Shrestha, who visited China only on Wednesday, is scheduled to hold formal and informal discussions with senior leaders of CPC. Another Vice President and Spokesperson Agniprasad Sapkota visited China last week of October and held a high-level meeting. He said that he has been visiting CPC for a long time because of his fraternal relationship.

'CPC naturally wants to have fraternal relations . According to him, the party relationship has been going on,' he said, 'since the CPC still has goodwill towards the communists, it is natural to wish for a communist union.'

Mahesh Maske, a political analyst and Nepal's former ambassador to China, has been of the opinion that China would be better if the communist power came together for political stability in Nepal.

If you look at it from the eyes of the Chinese government, it is beneficial to have a good relationship. Communist parties on behalf of the CPC. There are some reasons why China wants the communist power to come together. CPC understands that it has overcome great difficulties and came here because it is a single communist party," he said. It is believed that when the Communists come together, political stability will be achieved and relations will be strengthened. He said that he would recommend CPC to proceed in that way because it would be easier to make economic progress after having a strong political power. Apart from the Communist Party, China has been inviting the leaders of the Congress and the New Powers, including the National Independent Party and the People's Opinion. "There are many communist parties in Nepal, that's why there are many visits, but the leaders of other parties are also visiting China."
