Deputy Prime Minister and Urban Development Minister Prakashman Singh has said that there is a need to make modern development construction sustainable including Nepalization.

Addressing the opening ceremony of 'Archwild Expo 2024' held in Kathmandu on Thursday, Deputy Prime Minister Singh said that Nepal is currently undergoing rapid urbanization. He pointed out the need for large domestic and foreign investment, expertise and technology in building basic and uplifting infrastructure. 

In Nepal's diverse geography, environment and socio-cultural environment, Deputy Prime Minister Singh also said that Nepal's great wealth is the knowledge of ancestors and the historical and traditional settlements created by ancestors, local original art, construction style and tangible, intangible heritage.

In recent times, climate change and other disasters have increased and overshadowed development and construction, Singh said.

Noting that the devastating impact is increasing, solutions to ensure the sustainable future of cities and communities  Singh said that search is today's challenge. "I have felt the need to sustain the modern development construction including Nepalization while maintaining the glorious history of Nepali art and built environment, which are the heritage of Nepali identity," Singh said, "Nepal is currently undergoing a process of rapid urbanization. There is an increasing tendency of people from villages to migrate to cities in search of opportunities . Looking at the world environment, it is seen that urbanization cannot be stopped and there is no alternative to its management.' 

Deputy Prime Minister Singh said that if investment in planned urban development, land use, regulation of physical development and strategic integrated infrastructure is not done, there will be serious economic, social and environmental impact in the future .
