The Congress has said that the performance of the party in the by-elections is satisfactory and encouraging. Congress General Minister Bishwa Prakash Sharma announced the preliminary review on Tuesday and stated that he took the 'place gained by fighting alone' as a satisfactory and encouraging sign.
Two district coordination committee chiefs and one ward president were already unopposed, while voting was held for 41 posts on Sunday. Out of total 44 posts, Congress won 19, Maoist 11, UML 8, Jaspa 2 and S, Raswapa, Nemkipa and Independent 1/1 posts.
In the 2079 election, Congress won 6 and Maoist won 2 positions out of 8 positions of municipal chief and deputy chief. According to the final results, Maoists have added 2 officials and UML has added 3 officials. Out of the 6 that the Congress had previously won, only the post of Kirtipur municipality chief of Kathmandu has been preserved.
Congress General Minister Sharma has said, 'The support and solidarity of citizens towards the democratic system has been strongly demonstrated once again by the wide participation of voters in the by-elections. Basically, taking the support shown by the voters towards the main parties as the unity gained in the direction of progress through the existing system, it is necessary for the government at those levels to speed up the work and strengthen the citizen's trust.
Congress has won 19 seats out of 44 vacancies overall. Sharma said that it is important politically, organizationally and qualitatively. 'Overall, this is 43.18 percent. In 2007, the number of places won by fighting alone is less but more important politically, organizationally and qualitatively. "Congratulations and respect to all the respected friends of all levels who joined the field to achieve this result," said Sharma.
