Major political parties have held a meeting in Kirtipur by-election before the silent period. The main contest for the mayor of Kirtipur is between Congress, UML, Maoists and independent candidates.

Congress, UML, Maoists have held an election rally and asked their candidates to win as the silent period will start from 12 pm on Wednesday. Chairman of Maoist Center and former Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal said that this by-election is an anti-corruption campaign and asked his candidate to win.

Addressing the election meeting in Kirtipur, Congress General Minister Gagan Thapa said that even though Maoist Chairman Dahal is sending news to the Congress for the Prime Minister, the government will last until the next election.
