President Ramchandra Paudel has left for Nepal after participating in the 29th Conference of Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP-29) held in Baku, Azerbaijan.
He will return home from Baku via Doha, Qatar. He was bid farewell by Health Minister Temur Musayev at Heydar Aliyev International Airport here.
President Poudel arrived in Baku on Monday to participate in the conference at the invitation of the President of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev. First Lady Sabita Paudel, Forest and Environment Minister Ain Bahadur Shahi, experts/advisors of the President and high-ranking officials of the Government of Nepal participated in the visiting party. President Paudel addressed the 'World Leaders Climate Action Summit' of the high-level session on Tuesday under COP 29.
On that occasion, he invited the world community to take care that the protection of the mountains is the protection of the earth. "Let's all take care that the protection of the mountains is the protection of the earth, the world should not forget that the process of turning the white mountains of mountainous countries into black mountains will lead to crisis not only in those countries but also in the low coastal countries," President Paudel said. On Tuesday, in a meeting with President Paudel and his counterpart Dr. Mohammad Muiju of the Republic of Maldives in Baku, President Paudel said that both countries are affected by climate change and now they should strengthen bilateral cooperation and cooperate in climate talks. During the
conference, Nepal will draw the world's attention to its agenda here on Wednesday A special high-level session was conducted under the leadership of President Paudel. He addressed the high-level round table meeting titled "Addressing climate-related damages and losses in mountainous areas" organized by Nepal under the Conference (COP-29).
On Wednesday, President Paudel, while addressing the program organized by Kyrgyzstan in Baku regarding climate change, said that if justice is to be given to those who suffer due to climate change, the climate problems and poverty alleviation programs that they have experienced should be addressed in an integrated manner.
On the same day, under the COP 29 conference, UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres held a group meeting with heads of state/government of underdeveloped countries in Baku.
The slogan of this conference is 'New Collective Quantified Goal (NCQG)'. The conference will continue till the 7th of November. President Paudel left Kathmandu for Doha on Sunday 25th October to participate in COP 29. After participating in the conference, President Paudel is scheduled to return home on October 30.
