Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli said that he is committed to the democratic system and the republican constitution that the people fought for. He made it clear that he would not allow democracy to be at the bottom.
In the 'Conference with the Prime Minister' session of 'Kantipur Conclave-2024' organized by Kantipur Media Group in Kathmandu, Prime Minister Oli said that the country will move forward in a democratic system.
During the conversation with the editor-in-chief of Kantipur, Umesh Chauhan, Prime Minister Oli said that the democratic system will be pushed forward in a strong manner as the system was brought by the people. "We have made a little more sacrifices, sorrows, hardships, we feel love". I want to say openly that democracy cannot be allowed to be at the top. Nepalese people have established a system of civil supremacy by fighting for the republic. Every citizen is now supreme, every citizen is sovereign, the source of power is the people, no one else . It is not a constitution given by a person, we are talking about a constitution brought by a system . It doesn't matter whether people like it or not, in a democratic system, a leader who is not liked is elected.'
After the establishment of a democratic republic in the country, Oli said that work has been done in the fields of infrastructure development and connectivity. After the coming of the democratic republic, after the coming of the 2072 constitution, the country started to be governed by the constitution built by the people, the achievements of the country had to be seen first, the country cannot develop without infrastructure. Attention was given to road air connectivity, communication, electricity, infrastructure . This infrastructure has reached about 98 percent of the people,' he said.
Prime Minister Oli says that the constitution is stable in Nepal. He said that there is a provision to evaluate the constitution after 10 years of the promulgation of the constitution and accordingly the issue of constitutional amendment has been brought forward. We have said that we evaluate the constitution. We have arranged in the constitution that the period for evaluating the constitution, system and all our achievements, shortcomings, etc. in terms of constitutional system is 10 years . We made this arrangement in the constitution,' he said.
Prime Minister Oli said that there is no proper evaluation of recent achievements. He Said, 'Why not see the achievements of our country ? Was it a blessing for others to move forward in this world when there was a panchayati system? Tahastu said, Shiva, Mahadesh, Vishnu had cursed the rest of the world and our country to remain underdeveloped. The rulers must have done it. It had been 240 years since the monarchy was established. If the Rana had done Udhum, it would have been 104 years. If the panchayat would have done it, it would have been done for 30 years,' he said. Oli said that even if the system did not develop significantly, he would not devalue it.
