A meeting was held between Energy Water Resources and Irrigation Minister Deepak Khadka and India's Water Power Minister CR Patil. In the meeting between the two ministers held at the Ministry of Water Power in New Delhi on Tuesday, various aspects including progressing the Pancheswar project and flood control, development and capacity building were discussed.

In the meeting, Energy Minister Khadka requested India to convene a meeting of the joint committee on flood and disaster management between Nepal and India as soon as possible and also to finalize the DPR of the Pancheshwar project as soon as possible. Energy Minister Khadka thanked the Government of India for completing the construction of the canal from Tanakpur to the Nepal-India border.

In the meeting, India's Water Power Minister Patil said that the Government of India is positive to finalize the DPR of the Pancheshwar project and move the project forward quickly, said Prabal Adhikari, a senior energy expert of the Ministry of Energy who participated in the meeting.

The meeting with the Indian Minister was attended by the Nepali delegation and the representative of the Nepali Embassy in New Delhi along with Nepal's Energy Minister Khadka.
