UML, which is leading the government, has recommended Surendra Manandhar as the mayor candidate of Kirtipur municipality. UML has recommended Manandhar as a candidate for the mayor of Kirtipur municipality for the by-elections to be held on November 16.
UML Kathmandu district committee president Deepak Niraula has informed that Manandhar has been unanimously recommended to be the candidate at the meeting of UML Kirtipur city committee held on Friday.
Manandhar, who is also a central member of UML, has been put forward as the mayor of Kirtipur.
The district committee will send the name recommended by the city committee to the state committee for approval and the state committee will make the final decision on the candidate.
Rajkumar Nakarmi, the head of Kirtipur Municipality, passed away and by-elections are going to be held for that post.
