The special court has acquitted 10 people, including the suspended Chief Secretary Vaikunth Aryal, in the corruption case. The bench of special court chairperson Teknarayan Kunwar and judges Khushi Prasad Tharu and Ritendra Thapa held on Wednesday found the then executive director of Suraksha Printing Center Vikal Paudel and director Safal Shrestha guilty of corruption.
The Abuse of Authority Investigation Commission had filed a case against 12 people including Chief Secretary Aryal in a special court on June 9, alleging corruption of 386.7 million 17 thousand 640 rupees in excise sticker printing. This case was decided in 4 months and 5 days as part of the special court campaign which can be completed within 6 months of the
case. Breaking the past practice of prolonging corruption cases for a long time, Special has taken a campaign to dispose of cases within 6 months since last year.
The term of the suspended chief secretary Aryal, who was acquitted by a quick verdict, is still one year left. Speculation has started that Aryal will not be reinstated after being acquitted. Eknarayan Aryal is currently the chief secretary. "It's one thing if the government wants to appoint Vaikushtaji as the chief secretary, but since he was suspended, two people have come to that position, so the appointment cannot happen automatically," said legal expert Madhav Prasad Paudel.
In the suspended state, Aryal was transferred by the government to the secretariat of the National Planning Commission by creating the post of special officer with the same privileges as the chief secretary. According to the law, Aryal's position will be there for the time being, said Paudel.
In 2063, before Bhojraj Ghimire was appointed as the chief secretary, Lokmansingh Karki, the chief secretary, was also suspended and the government created the post of chief secretary as special officer in the National Planning Commission.
Specially to Deputy Director General of Customs Department Tank Prasad Pandey, Joint Secretary of Ministry of Finance Ritesh Kumar Shakya, Director of Internal Revenue Department Ganesh Vikram Shahi, Rabindra Prasad Paudel, Accounts Officer Bishnu Prasad Gautam, Branch Officer Hariballab Paudel, Purchase Consultant Shakti Prasad Shrestha, Printcell Pvt Ltd and its Director Keshav Sharma. has been cleared.
