Senior Vice President of Maoist Center Narayankaji Shrestha has said that democracy is being attacked from various angles in the country. He also said that there is still a danger of the dissolution of the House of Representatives as in the past.
"Today, democracy is being attacked from various angles," Shrestha said at a vigilance meeting organized by the Maoist Center on Saturday at Bhrikutimandap Exhibition Road in Kathmandu.
Shrestha said that as those who attacked democracy unconstitutionally dissolved the House of Representatives in the past, that danger still exists. 'Yesterday we failed the regressive act of unconstitutionally dissolving the House of Representatives. Even today, that kind of danger has not become zero,' Shrestha said, 'the achievements of historical change and the federal democratic republic will be protected.'
Shrestha said that actions such as the dissolution of the House of Representatives should be stopped. He also said that socialism-oriented inclusiveness should be protected .
He said that along with political achievements, the country expects economic development and prosperity. Mentioning that political rights have been given to the oppressed classes and communities, he said that now the central task is to make a prosperous Nepal by fulfilling the basic needs of common life including education, health, employment, food, housing, and roads.
Shrestha said that it is necessary to make social and economic transformation through the political system. "The rest of the tasks of the peace process must be completed and for that the Maoist center will have to move forward to complete the national tasks by combining the government, the House and the street front," he said.
