Speaker Devraj Ghimire has instructed to finalize the pending bills in the parliamentary committee as soon as possible. Speaker Ghimire, while discussing with the chairpersons of the parliamentary committees in his office, said that law-making work should be given priority.
On Tuesday, Speaker Ghimire discussed with the chairman of the committee and the chief whip and whip of the major parties and said that everyone should play their role in finalizing the pending bills in the committee. Referring to what Speaker Ghimire said in the
meeting, Chairman of Industry and Commerce and Labor and Consumer Welfare Committee Abdul Khan said, 'How many bills are there in which committee? How long does it take to pass it? Speaker has shown interest.' In the
meeting, the committee chairpersons informed the speaker that the meeting could not be held as the parliament session ended. Speaker Khan said, 'We told the speaker that the majority of the committee chairpersons had gone to their home districts and that there was not even a quorum for the meeting.'
The speaker said that in order to prevent lack of business in the upcoming session of the parliament, the bill under consideration in the parliamentary committee should be finalized .
UML Chief Whip Mahesh Bertaula, Congress Whip Sushila Thing, Maoist Center Chief Whip Hitraj Pandey, Rashtriya Prajatantra Party Whip Bina La participated in the meeting.
The Customs Bill, Banks and Financial Institutions (First Amendment) Bill, Safe Transactions (First Amendment) Bill, Securities (First Amendment) Bill and Economic Procedures and Financial Responsibility (First Amendment) Bill are under consideration in the Finance Committee.
The Electronic Business Bill is under consideration in the Industry and Commerce and Labor and Consumer Affairs Committee. The Commission on Abuse of Authority (Third Amendment) Bill, the Construction Materials (Management and Regulation) Bill, the Prevention of Corruption (First Amendment) Bill and the Federal Civil Service Bill are pending in the Public Order and Good Governance Committee.
Similarly, the School Education Bill and the Shaheed Dashrath Chand Health Sciences University Bill are under consideration in the Education, Health and Information Technology Committee. The law, justice and human rights committee is considering a bill to amend some Nepalese laws, while the infrastructure development committee is considering the water resources bill and the electricity bill.
