The senior vice president of the main opposition CPN (Maoist Centre) Narayankaji Shrestha has said that Nepal should give equal priority to its relations with neighboring countries, both India and China.

In order to fulfill the task of economic prosperity of Nepal, Shreshanth said that the government should prioritize relations with both India and China based on equality.

Shrestha, who is also a former foreign minister, said at the Nepal-Venezuela Friendship Union declaration program held in Kathmandu that Nepal should always keep the national interest at the center and advance its relations with other countries . He said that since world politics is focusing on Asia, Nepal should also understand the geopolitical sensitivities and advance foreign relations.

'When talking about our country, we give priority to the relationship with our two neighborhoods in our country . We prioritize relations with India and China. We want to maintain a friendly relationship with them based on equality . We are not in favor of a close relationship with one, a little distance relationship with the other,' said Shrestha, 'mainly we want to promote friendly relations with both India and China . That friendly relationship is based on our natural closeness, on the basis of equality with both countries . But we always speak and take a stand in favor of our country's national sovereignty, geographical integrity, independence, self-respect and interests.'

Shrestha also said that when Nepal stands up for its national interests, it cannot be said that any country did activities against it. That country will also speak in favor of its sovereignty and national interests. Therefore, our point is that we want to develop good relations with our neighbors . We want to develop good relations with other friendly countries,' he said.

Shrestha also said that the geopolitical location of Nepal poses serious challenges and sensitivities. "We should adopt an independent foreign policy, we should adopt the recognition of Panchsheel, make the United Nations Charter the basic basis, accept non-alignment and move forward with the national interest of our country at the center and advance the policy of having friendly relations with everyone. We want to maintain a friendly relationship with others without getting distracted by it, he said.

Nepal has always followed an independent foreign policy and Shrestha said that it should not be disturbed in the future.
