The first and third bypass (cross passage) of Palpa's Siddhababa Tunnel under Siddharth Highway has been 'break through'. Construction of two out of three bypasses under the Siddhababa tunnel project has been completed.

The first bypass with a length of 151 meters and the third bypass with a length of 130 meters have been dug up to the main tunnel. According to Savita Gyawali, information officer of the

project, the third bypass and the main tunnel were dug on August 26 and the first bypass on October 4. The first bypass is towards Upper Siddhababa Temple and the third bypass is towards Dobhan Dam side . Information Officer Engineer Gyawali said that it will take another week for the second bypass to break through as it has not reached the main tunnel part and is a bit long.

According to him, the length of the second bypass is 161 meters. 117 meters of its tunnel has been excavated. She said that more than half of the length of the main tunnel of the Siddhababa tunnel has now been dug. Main tunnel 587 till Tuesday evening. Information Officer Gyawali said that 22 meters length was dug.

This project has a main tunnel length of 1126 meters . Explosives have been used since one and a half months ago. According to the project office, the tunnel is dug at the rate of 8 to 9 meters per day. Now the physical progress of the tunnel has reached 24.17 percent and the financial progress has reached 26.4 percent. According to the project, overall progress has been seen to increase by 10 percent in the last one month.

The drill is going on at night . At least four explosions have been made in the afternoon. After frequent landslides and accidents in the Chidiakhola-Dobhan road Tinau Rural Municipality-3, Dobhan area, the plan to construct a tunnel was started.

The four kilometer area of this section falls within the high landslide zone. According to the project, under the plan, road improvement work will also be done on 910 meters from Chidiakhola towards Butwal and 560 meters towards Palpa. The project has claimed that if the progress of the work goes according to this, the main tunnel digging work will be completed by the end of November.

If there is some problem inside the tunnel, you can get out through the bypass. Since the work is being done within the time limit, the district administration, the local level and the district coordination committee have been helping to solve the various problems encountered during the process.

The tunnel has been constructed to enter near the Siddhababa temple towards Palpa and exit near Ramapithecus Park near the Tinau hydroelectric power station of Palpa. China State Construction Engineering Corporation has won the contract for 7 billion 34 million 21 million rupees and the work of rock net, rock fall barrier, and slope protection will be done on the outside section of this tunnel. About 5 thousand vehicles pass through the Siddhartha highway daily, including small and big ones.
