CPN (UML) Secretary Yogesh Kumar Bhattarai has said that Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal will also benefit from supporting the Congress-UML coalition government.
He said that in order to bring the peace process to the right conclusion, to make the constitution dynamic, to move the country in the right direction and also for his own benefit, Prime Minister Dahal has no choice but to move forward by supporting the cooperation between the two big parties.
On Monday, Secretary Bhattarai, while answering the questions raised by the media persons at the Federal Parliament building complex, said that they will take the Maoist center along with them and proceed with the process of constitutional amendment through consensus.
Secretary Bhattarai said, 'Amending the constitution is not so easy. We Congress-UML have come together because it is not easy. If we don't come together, this is not possible. Because two-thirds majority is not enough even if UML forms a coalition. It is difficult. It is not enough for the Congress to form a separate coalition. If that is not a possibility, then the Maoists have no such possibility. Therefore, we felt that the constitution should be reviewed and if necessary amended. It is because of that need that an agreement has been made between the Nepali Congress and us. That consensus commands a two-thirds majority in the Federal Parliament. Only two parties are not enough. We also support other parties in that.'
He said that the Maoist center also believes that the Congress-UMA alliance will support the constitution amendment agenda.
