Earlier, the ambassador appointed during the alliance with the Congress was recalled by the current government. Ambassadors who have been called in this way have been recommended and appointed by Congressional quotas in India, America, Britain, South Korea, Portugal and Israel. Similarly, Upendra Yadav's Janata Samajwadi Party Nepal was appointed ambassador to Denmark and Spain. Former Prime Minister Baburam Bhattarai was appointed ambassador to Saudi Arabia by the Nepal Samajwadi Party. In Malaysia and Qatar, former Prime Minister Madhav was appointed by the Unified Samajwadi Party of Nepal.
Nepali Ambassador to India Shankar Prasad Sharma was in discussions with Indian officials at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Delhi to discuss the preparation and program of Prime Minister Dahal's visit when he got to know the news that he was recalled. Dahal is said to have decided to recall the ambassador after a discussion with KP Sharma Oli, the largest party in the alliance.
Former ambassador Rajeshwar Acharya says that it is not right for the government to recall an ambassador directly on the basis of party rather than the performance of any ambassador. He mentioned that the ambassador has a fixed term and accordingly he plans to work in the interest of the national interest.
