Posthumous Dag Hammersold Award to four Nepalese peacekeepers

According to the Nepali Army, the recipients of the award are Thir Prasad Gautam, Dipendra Vasti, Anil Gurung and Pashupati Karki. They have also been awarded the Commander-in-Chief's Letter of Appreciation.

Four Nepalese peacekeepers who gave their lives for the establishment of world peace have been awarded the Dag Hammersold Award and the Commander-in-Chief's Letter of Appreciation.

Commemorating and appreciating the contribution made by four Nepalese peacekeepers at Birendra Peace Training Center, Panchkhaal, the award and letter of appreciation was given to their family members.

as an important award given by the United Nations (UN)  If there is a 'Dag Hammersold' award, the Commander-in-Chief commendation letter is considered as an important award given in the army in Nepal. The UN has given posthumous awards to peacekeepers who died during various missions and on the dates they died. 

Departmental Head of War Operations Department of Nepali Army Premdhawaj Adhikari presented the awards to the family members of four peace soldiers . According to the Nepali Army, the recipients of the award are Thir Prasad Gautam, Dipendra Vasti, Anil Gurung and Pashupati Karki.

Jamdar Gautam was killed on 18 Baisakh 2077 while working in Special Guard Unit 2nd Daffa Libya. On November 19, 2078, Pyut Wasti was killed while working in High Readiness Gulm Fifth Daffa Unmiss Mission in South Sudan.

Similarly, Amaldar Gurung was killed on Chait 22, 2078 while working in the first Duffa MONUSCO Mission Congo. Gulm work Hudda Karki died on 7th of December 2079 while working in Virdal Gana Ninth Daffa, Unmiss Mission South Sudan .

In addition, in Monday's program, who was stationed as a peace soldier last year and contributed to the establishment of world peace  Co-fighters Rukesh Nepali, Subedar Navraj Giri and Hudda Bhuvan Bhujel were also handed over letters of appreciation given by the Chief of Army Staff.

Nepal started its peace mission journey in 1958 with 5 Nepali peace soldiers working as military observers in the United Nations Observation Group in Lebanon mission.

Nepalese peacekeepers have been continuously participating in the establishment of world peace for more than 6 decades. So far Nepali Army has contributed 151 thousand 451 peace soldiers of Nepali Army in 44 different missions for world peace. In that process, 73 Nepalese soldiers died.
