Kathmandu District Court has found Judge Bhuvan Giri guilty in the rape case. Judge Durga Bahadur Bhusal's bench on Sunday convicted Giri and ordered a separate submission for determining the punishment. Ramu Sharma, head of the Kathmandu District Court, said that another hearing will be held on June 28 to determine the punishment.

His wife Aarti Rawal filed a case against Giri, who is a judge in District Court Kapilvastu, on May 19 of last year. After the case proceeded, the suspended Giri was sent to prison by the order of the Supreme Court dated 21st of Chait. He had surrendered himself in the district court on 3rd Baisakh.

Rawal and Giri got married in 2075. After marriage, their marital relationship deteriorated. Rawal filed a complaint against her husband at the Kapilvastu District Police Office on 079 Mansir 2, alleging that he had beaten her up, domestic violence, sexual exploitation and violence, unnatural intercourse.

Kapilvastu District Court issued an arrest warrant against Giri on March 20. After that, Giri became active in getting the case back. At the same time, Giri went to Rawal's Samakhusi Dera on 27th Chait 079 and raped her. Rawal's wife filed a rape case in Kathmandu district court.

Nyayasidh's wife Rawal has said that she felt justice even though it was late. "I am grateful to the district court for giving me the feeling of complete justice by convicting me today," she said. She has had a long road struggle to get justice. She went on hunger strike for two months from June 10, 2008, saying that the court was slow to settle the case of rape by her husband. She started the second phase of fasting from January 1, 1980.

She is on hunger strike saying that the government should provide relief aid to the victims including weed, shelter, cotton and livelihood.
