Police have opened fire while arresting a group involved in transporting a large quantity of tramadol in Lalitpur.

According to SSP Subash Bohara of the Narcotics Control Bureau, on Saturday, the police conducted a search based on a special tip-off that a large quantity of tramadol was being brought in a red Suzuki car with registration number Bagmati Province 01-030 Cha 9201 coming from Simraungarh in Bara towards Kathmandu.

Bohara claims that when they tried to stop the car and motorcycle with registration number Ba 52 Pa 4567 coming from Gairigaun in Lalitpur Metropolitan City-23 towards Nakkhu, the driver and passengers tried to flee. After that, the police had to fire a round of pistol in the air to control it, he informed Kantipur.

The police took the car and motorcycle under control and searched them and recovered 30,000 capsules of tramadol hidden in the trunk of the car. Three people have also been arrested from the spot.

The arrested are Jitendra Paswan, 35, of Simraungarh Municipality-3 in Bara, and Ahmed Laddan, 32, and Mohammad Saddam, 33, of Sitamarhi district in Bihar, India.

According to the police, no one was hit by the bullet. 30,000 capsules of Tramadol, a car, a motorcycle, and five mobile phones have been recovered from the spot.

The Narcotics Control Bureau has said that further investigation is underway into the arrested. Recently, the police have been firing more and more shots while arresting drug dealers.
