Kathmandu Metropolitan City's bulldozer arrives to demolish traffic police post

Kathmandu Metropolitan City has sent a bulldozer to demolish the traffic police post in Thapathali. The metropolitan city team has reached Thapathali to remove the physical structure where the post is located.

The Metropolitan City has also demolished the unauthorized structures here, saying that they were built by encroaching on public land. When the team including the city police reached Thapathali, the Nepal Police were guarding the traffic post. A traffic police post had been operating here since 2030. Kathmandu Valley Traffic Office Chief Nawaraj Adhikari said that the traffic police post has been operating at that location for five decades. 'We received information only yesterday that the traffic police post would be demolished. But the police have been living here since 2030,' he said, 'Where will we transfer the police today?' The Metropolitan City had issued a notice to vacate the structures in the area only on Friday. Earlier on 12 Mangsir 2079, the Metropolitan City had tried to evacuate the settlements in the Thapathali area. At that time, the locals of the area had protested after the powerful Bagmati Civilization Integrated Development Committee and the Metropolitan City team received information to evacuate the settlements.
