Devotees flocked to Pashupatinath temple and other temples across the country

What you should know

Devotees have been queuing up at Pashupatinath temple since 3 am. Since today is the last Monday of the month of July, there has been a rush of devotees from early morning to worship and darshan in Pashupatinath and other temples across the country. All four gates of Pashupati have been opened since 3 o'clock in the morning, said Subash Chandra Joshi, Member Secretary of Pashupati Area Development Fund.

As in other special festivals, there is a queue for the devotees to enter Pashupatinath from four places. According to the fund, arrangements have been made to enter the temple through the first queue Gourighat-Umakund-Rudragadeshwar from the west door, the second queue Mitrapark-Dakshinamurthy from the west main door, the third queue from Jaywageshwari-Bhuvaneshwari-Shankaracharya Math from the west main door, the fourth queue to enter the temple from the south door via Pingalasthan-Char Shivalaya-Panchdeval.

As the month of July and Monday are the month and bar of Lord Shiva, it is religiously believed that if you take a bath and worship at the Shivalaya this morning, your wishes will be fulfilled and you will get good fortune.  Targeting Mondays in July, the fund has arranged an extra shoe room.

From the first Monday of July this year, four buses have been driven to bring devotees to the circular path. It is also popular to say that married women pray for the long life of their husbands and unmarried women pray for a worthy marriage.

Prada Ramchandra Gautam, the theologian and former president of the Nepal Panchang Adjudicatory Development Committee, says that there is a classical word in religious texts that everyone should worship Shiva in the month of July and on Mondays for happiness, peace and prosperity.  It is also believed that those who fast on Monday for the first time should start from the year in which there are five Mondays. Those who fast on the Monday of July with a special wish, end the fast on the last Monday with Godan, Purnapatra, to fulfill their wish.

Gokarneshwar is also crowded with devotees

Likewise, the Gokarneswar Mahadev temple in the north-eastern part of the capital has also been thronged by devotees since morning. There is a tradition of worshiping Sriyantra in Pashupatinath and Balayantra in Gokarneshwar, so there is a belief that devotees who worship and have darshan in one temple should also go to the other temple. Based on this belief, there has been a rush of devotees in the temple since morning.

Also in Gokarneshwar, the doors were opened for the devotees from 3 o'clock in the morning. informed. Devotees who bring pure water from the spring of Vagmati and offer it to the Pashupatinath temple also crowd the Pashupatinath temple from early morning. Devotees who have gone to Sundari Jal on Sunday night are taking bath and offering pure water to Pashupatinath in the morning.

Devotees belonging to the Bolbam Kawariya Sangh went to Sundarijal on Sunday. These devotees have been offering pure water to Lord Pashupatinath since this morning. The tradition of offering water in this way is called Bol Bam by the devotees. Devotees dressed in yellow cloths with water in their hands, carrying water in a glass and chanting empty goda bol bom, reach the Pashupatinath temple through Sundari Jal. In this way, pilgrims who make the pilgrimage to Gokarneshwar Mahadev Temple also offer pure water to the Shivalaya on the way.

Since rivers are dear to Lord Shiva, there is a tradition of offering pure water and cow's milk from the river in the month of July. The tradition of doing Vedic Rudrabhishek at home once a year in the month of July has been going on in Nepali society. There is also a mythic belief that by doing Rudrabhishek in this way, the house will not be entered by evil forces, and happiness, peace and wealth will be attained. Likewise, other temples in the capital, such as the small Pashupatinath temple in Vasantpur, are also crowded with devotees.
