Suraj Vaidya, President of Vaidya Organization of Industries and Trading House, has been unanimously elected as the Dean of the organization of unpaid consuls, Honorary Consular Corps Nepal (HCCN).

Former President of the Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI), Vaidya, is the Honorary Consul of the Philippines.

The general assembly of HCCN held in Kathmandu unanimously elected Vaidya as the new Dean. Previously, Bhola Thapa, Nepal-based Honorary Consul for Bulgaria, was the Dean. The conference elected Pasang Dawa Sherpa as the Vice Dean of HCCN.

Vaidya, who has made a long-standing contribution and gained experience in Nepal’s industrial sector, comes from the Vaidya Organization, a business house with a history of more than six decades, which has long been the official distributor of Toyota vehicles. Along with automobiles, the group has also been expanding its investments in the cement and hospitality sectors.

Newly appointed Dean Vaidya has stated that attracting foreign direct investment (FDI), promoting tourism, and strengthening economic diplomacy will be his main priorities during his tenure.

After assuming the responsibilities of Dean, Vaidya stated in a press release issued on Thursday that he would actively work to make the relationship between Nepal and the international community more effective and to expand economic cooperation.

Noting that HCCN currently represents more than 64 countries worldwide, Vaidya said that these nations have been making significant contributions to the global economy, international trade, technology, innovation, tourism, and investment.

He stated that expanding Nepal’s relations with these countries, which have a combined population of over five billion and a joint economic size of more than one hundred trillion US dollars, presents an important opportunity for economic development.
