For the first time in the country, a helmet cleaning machine used by two-wheeler drivers has been introduced. Gaire Freshpod Nepal organized a program in Butwal on Thursday afternoon and unveiled the helmet cleaning and sanitizing machine.

Gaire Foundation President Premraj Gaire and NADA Automobile Association Nepal Secretary Meghraj Poudel jointly unveiled the machine.

Gaire Freshpod Pvt. Ltd. is the official distributor for Nepal of the machine manufactured by the prestigious Indian company Freshpod India. Gaire Freshpod Pvt. Ltd. located in Kalika Nagar, Butwal-19 has started selling the machine with a special discount from Thursday. The helmet cleaning machine is priced at around Rs 600,000 in Nepal. The machine can clean the helmet within five minutes. For that, an arrangement has been made to pay through QR.

After paying a one-time fee of Rs 175, the machine door opens automatically. The company claims that the helmet placed in the machine will be disinfected and clean within five minutes. Gaire Freshpod also expressed the belief that regular helmet cleaning will help reduce the risk of skin problems and infections.

According to Gaire, the president of the foundation, this technology has been introduced in Nepal to solve the problem of sweat, dust, bacteria and odor when using a helmet for a long time. He informed that an online QR payment system has also been installed in the machine. He said that customers can easily pay the service fee through digital means without the hassle of carrying cash.

In India, the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, Chandrababu Naidu, formally inaugurated the machine on May 4, 2025. Freshpod, which has expanded to countries including India, Sri Lanka and Africa in a short time, has sold more than 200 machines and sanitized more than 500,000 helmets, the company said.

Freshpod has won a gold medal for quality service in India and international awards at international innovation exhibitions held in Serbia, Thailand, Malaysia and China, said founder Bhaskar Kumar Lakju. According to Pravesh Raj Gaire, director of Gaire Foundation, the machine removes dust, odor and germs from the helmet in just five minutes, making it clean, sanitized and fragrant. The company claims that the helmet sanitized with the technology proven by medical lab tests will remain fresh and odor-free for about 15 days.

According to the company, such a service will be especially useful for motorcyclists, riders, delivery service providers and daily helmet users.

It has been stated that the service will be expanded through petrol pumps, shopping complexes, colleges, hospitals and two-wheeler dealer and service center network in the coming days. According to the director of the institution, Gaire, the price of the helmet sanitizing machine is 595 thousand rupees including VAT. A one-year manufacturing warranty is also available.
